Inspired by an artist I met who burnt his retina while painting the sun…

The “black hole Sun“ was part of a larger series of sculptures I made, Mixing polished domes of nonferrous metals (copper and brass) with electrical lights and frames made of flowing dark steel lines. My lamps are displayed against the white wall, where a light reflects off the inside of the copper dome, back against the wall, and creates the burning silhouette of a red sun.
